The Society for the Activation of Social Space Through Art and Sound (SASSAS) is a support and presenting organization that serves as a catalyst for the creation, presentation, and recognition of experimental art and sound practices in the Greater Los Angeles area.
SASSAS primary programs are the “sound.” concert series; soundNet recordings - CD compilations of performances from “sound.; www.soundNet.org, the archive of “sound.” concerts including photographs and streaming audio of “sound.” concerts. SASSAS is also and is the fiscal umbrella for www.soundCommons.org, a portal and file exchange system for experimenatl musicians.
Among the musicians we've presented are Joseph Jarman, Alex Cline, Nels Cline, Gregg Bendian, Vinny Golia, Lynn Johnston and Henry Grimes.
