Saxophonist Azar Lawrence has been credited with helping to carry the free Jazz torch lit by John Coltrane and is considered to be a direct descendant (via his years with McCoy Tyner's band) of 'Trane'. Azar began living up to that description in his Jazz life at an early age with Miles Davis, Elvin Jones, Billy Higgins, Muddy Waters and he also made a presence in popular music with names like Watt's 103rd St. Band, Marvin Gaye, Busta Rhymes, to mention a few and he wrote for Earth Wind & Fire and Stanley Turrentine.
Special Guest David Weiss from New York created the band The Cookers. Azar performed and recorded with The Cookers on their 2010 Cast The First Stone. New York based The Cookers takes their name from Freddie Hubbard's 1965 album Night of The Cookers. His screen creditis include performing on 'Studio 60' (NBC), 'E-Ring' (NBC), 'One on One' (UPN/CW), 'What I Like About You' (WB/CW) and 'Rhythm and Jam' (NBC). Tony performed notably in the movie 'Step Brothers' performing the famous climactic 'drums solo", starring Will Farrell and Jon C. Reilly.
