Zuza is blowing through Los Angeles for less than a week! This evening's performance is the only performance here and will be terrifically special. He'll be playing guitar and singing, playing with the wonderful Clarice Cast on percussion! Perfect for the intimacy of Bar Fedora!
Zuza's performance will mix Brazilian songs, vocal improvisation, body percussion and live looping in a shared interactive experience that brings a taste of Brazilian Music and São Paulo's Body Music scene as a catalyst for new and unexpected connections.
Zuza Gonçalves has been studying and developing alternative approaches to vocal music in educational and performance settings since 2001, bringing together elements from practices such as vocal improvisation, circle-songs, body percussion, Brazilian songs, choral music, and elements from his personal physical practices (DeRose Method, physical theater, Brazilian traditional dances).
A graduate of UNESP Art's Institute (musical conducting and composition), he has participated three times in the Circlesongs Workshop with Bobby Mcferrin (being invited to lead sessions on Body Music), he facilitated a workshop for educators at Carnegie Hall (NY) and has more than 10 years of experience as a teaching artists in many different contexts.
He is a member of Fritos nucleus and co-creator of Fritura Livre and Música do Círculo
