The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music and Friends of Jazz at UCLA present The Joe LaBarbera Trio in a multi-media event celebrating the music and life of Bill Evans. Bill Evans was a pioneering Jazz pianist and composer whose groundbreaking interactive group approach changed the traditional trio format forevermore. Evans was honored with 31 Grammy nominations and seven awards, and was inducted into the Down Beat Jazz Hall of Fame. In 1978, drummer Joe LaBarbera joined the Bill Evans Trio and remained with the trio until Evans’ death in 1980.
